WHAT IN THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS..

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Congrats to the city of Philadelphia for finally ending their title drought!!! The organization is 1st class and they deserve this championship, the great city of Philly deserves the title, for that matter the National League deserves this title..

gregoden.jpgMark my words you are looking at the next Sam Bowie!!! Sam Bowie you ask?? Yes! Sam I am. Just in case you have no idea who I’m talking about, he was the guy that the Portland Trail Blazers selected with the #2 pick right ahead of the Chicago Bulls who picked MJ at #3 in the 1984 NBA draft…

Bowie was a bust from the word GO & if you don’t know who he is it’s because he was that insignificant to the league.

Of course everyone one knows what Chicago accomplished with that #3 pick…
6 championships & the greatest to ever play the game!!!

Now 24 years later we have Greg Oden, he was the #1 draft pick last season & guess who drafted him??

Yep you guessed it the Portland Trail Blazers!!!

Oden missed the entire season last year & now he has been sidelined for the next 2-4 weeks with a sprained ankle the he suffered in Portland’s season opener Tuesday.

I wonder if the Blazers management wish they would’ve picked Kevin Durant or
Al Horford, both of which are major contributors to their respective teams

I give him 5-6 more seasons & he will probably be out of the league or no longer considered valuable enough to be a starter.

BIGGER ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER

PLEASE BAROCK THE VOTE BUT NOT MY WORLD SERIES

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Well hopefully today we can get game five of the World Series completed… No matter if the Phillies win the title or the Rays manage to stay alive, I’m really pissed that I have to watch Barack Obama’s infomercial while the baseball world holds their breath. I’m like come on Brother Obama do we really have to listen to you say the same the thing over & over for 30 mins??

I’ve already given you my vote dude!!! (I early voted!!)

Lots of people are coming down on me around the office for feeling like this but seriously if Game 5 wasn’t on pause in the bottom of the 6th tied 2-2, I might not have a problem with it because it was scheduled to take place today before Game 6 if necessary, however, I feel as if the network should have moved it to yesterday(Tuesday) or tomorrow(Thursday) due to the circumstances of Game 5…

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A PRESIDENT OR PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL WAS ALLOWED TO INTERUPT THE SUPER BOWL??

I can remember the day it all happened. The date was October 3, 1995. My band director Don P. Roberts made us to watch the O.J. Simpson verdict… Remember this:

That was a very historic day & 13 years to the date this happened:

Call it payback or karma… But I’ll call it being very stupid. What made O.J. think he was above the law?? Was it because he forgot that no matter how many white women he slept with, he’s still a black man? Was it because he thought his celebrity status would get him off again?? Or could it be because he’s just as crazy as they said he was back during the murder trial?

I’ll let you make that call!!

Congrats to the Dirty Birds.. 1st year coach Mike Smith has the team looking like they are ready to be contenders, however they will have to win more than 1 road game!! Matt Ryan looks as cool as the other side of the pillow & so does

Michael Turner & Roddy White.

When are the other recievers gonna step up & play ball??

Speaking of the Birds here is the ”dirtiest bird of them all” remember this:

It’s that wonderful time of the year part 1

This is the time of the year that true sports fans love… The MLB playoffs, Fall Classic, College & NFL action, plus the NBA is getting tuned up for the regular season…

As a true Braves fan I know the excitement that is the MLB Playoffs. I remember 14 years straight staying up past midnight just to my sure that my beloved Braves got the job done. This is when you really find out who your clutch players are. I can never forget the heros of those 14 years..  Pendleton, Bream, Glavine, Maddux, Smoltzy, Cabrera, Pena, a young Andruw Jones, & our very own Mr. October David Justice.

In 1995 it was Glavine & Justice that led the Braves to this city’s only major championship.

My question is who will emerge as this years Mr. October ???

WTF??t-henry.jpg  Former Pro Bowl running back Travis Henry was arrested Tuesday on federal cocaine charges.  He was apprehended after an alleged multi-kilogram transaction in Colorado.

This is the same guy that borrowed money from his former team to pay child support for his nine kids by nine women & then spent it… Wow!!!

Finally the numbers are in.. 50+ million people tuned in to watch the Georgia/Alabama game Saturday. Even when the Dawgs were down 31-0 all 50+ stayed tuned in.

AND THE BEAT GOES ON!!!!!

al-keeper.jpgWould you work for this man?

Not that one this one al-davis.jpg

The Raiders fired head coach Lane Kiffin yesterday.  Team owner Al Davis said he dismissed the second-year coach with cause after warning him about repeated negative comments to the media.  Kiffin was just 5-and-15.  Offensive line coach Tim Cable takes over.

Is there a coach that can make it more than 2-years under the ownership of Mr.Crypt Davis, my mistake Mr. Al Davis???

Answer: No… Any coach that takes this job is an idiot..

mlb.jpgThe MLB playoffs kick off today after last nights one game playoff that saw the White Sox defeat the Twins to claim the AL Central Title.

In the National League:

The NL wild card Brewers face the NL East champion Phillies in

Philadelphia, and the NL West champion Dodgers take on the NL Central champion Cubs at Wrigley Field.

In the American League:

The World Series champion Red Sox travel to Anaheim to take on the AL West champion Angels, and the AL Central champion Chicago White Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays..

Can you imagine an all Chicago World Series??

wnba.jpgThe WNBA finals kick off tonight with the Detroit Shock & San Antonio Silver Stars.. Since the city of Atlanta was awarded a WNBA franchise, I have become a fan.. Even though the Atlanta Dream won only 4 games, you’ve gotta respect their hustle.. The hard play from Ivory Latta & Betty Lennox should make them fixtures in this organization for years to come. If you have never been a part of the WNBA experience I seriously advise you to try it… As a sports junkie all it took for me was to see Candace Parker dunk in a game to make me realize that GIRLS HAVE GAME TOO…
